The Spanish Civil War remains one of the most controversial and most treated issues in Spain. I thought this video was interesting, not just for the opinions and people, but also for the comments sent in by viewers and by the archival footage.
So, I ask the same question that hovers in the air: When can the Spanish Civil War and the following ditatorship be put to rest? Or, maybe even better, how?

Wow...It really puts into light the question of working through things individually vs. working through them as a society. What can a society do to get over something like this? It seems like the more you learn the more you realize how awful it was - for everyone. But what's the goal here? Is the goal to reach some kind of fairness or balance or is the goal to move on? I think that however you answer that question goes a long way toward answering your question. It seems like historically those two questions have been at odds with each other. Maybe there's a way to bring them into alignment. I don't know...
It is a problem of democracy itself. In order to live in a truly pluralistic society there must be a freedom to express past experience. Until opinions are truly open and protected (both on the right and the left, both Franco and anti-Franco) A mere quotidian irony substitutes democracy. In such conditions, no one is satisfied.
